Portraits worthy of the dog you love

Editorial, painterly dog portraiture made in the studio. Fine art finishes, gallery-grade framing, work designed for the wall.

HERE'S THE THING

The portrait that does your dog justice.

Most photographs we have of our dogs are snapshots. Quick phone shots on a walk. Funny moments. Everyday. We love them all, but they aren't artwork. The kind of portrait that hangs above a fireplace, that visitors stop to look at, that holds your dog's spirit properly. That's a different kind of photograph. It needs light, time, craft, and a photographer who understands that dogs deserve the same considered attention we give people.

A session for the dog you love if…

You want a portrait that holds their character.

Most dog photographs flatten them. A proper portrait captures the specific look that's theirs. The slight head tilt. The particular eyes. The expression you'd recognise in a crowd.

You want work that earns a place on the wall.

Not a photo for your phone. A piece of fine art finished to gallery standards, hand-signed, framed in finishes not available on the high street, designed to live in your home for decades.

You want a photographer who works with dogs (not just animals).

Twenty years of photographing dogs in the studio. Patient with anxious dogs, quick with bouncy ones, calm with the reactive ones. Each session paced around your dog's actual temperament.

THIS IS FOR YOU if

Your dog is family, and you want to photograph them like it.

Every breed, every size, every temperament. Puppy or senior, rescue or pedigree, calm or reactive. The studio is set up to work with the dog you actually have, not a textbook idea of one. Multi-dog households welcome. Owners welcome in the frame too.

Your dog won't be here forever. The photograph will be.

SARAH

Before your session, I want to know your dog.

We start with a conversation about your dog. Their personality, their energy, what makes them themselves. I ask about their favourite treats, their go-to commands, what they love and what scares them. By the time they arrive at the studio, I already have a plan that suits them, not a generic dog-photography template.

The session is built around your dog.

The studio is calm. The lighting is set up before you arrive. Treats are ready. We work at your dog's pace, not mine. If they need ten minutes to sniff the room before we start, we let them. If they get tired halfway through, we take a break. Most dogs are completely relaxed within the first fifteen minutes. The portraits I'm best known for come from that relaxed state.

Designing artwork worthy of your dog.

About a week after the session, you come back for your design appointment. We look through your dog's portraits together on a large screen, sized to wall-art proportions. I help you choose the one or two images that really hold them, and we design wall art and folio prints around those. Every piece is hand-edited, custom-finished, signed by hand, and framed in materials not available on the high street.

Dog Photography Session Fee

I'm welcoming dog owners into the studio for fine art portrait sessions at my Wirral studio.
Each session is relaxed and fully guided, with a private viewing appointment a week or two afterwards where we'll look through your images together and choose what to order.

A £150 session fee secures your date. I do have special offers for clients who participate in one of my artist projects, where clients grant permission for me to share their images in our displays and social media galleries and are selected via an application process.

Ready to commission your dog's portrait?

If you've been meaning to commission a proper portrait of the dog you love, I'd love to hear from you. Send me a message and we'll talk about your dog, what you're imagining, and when works for a session.
